Mattresses are our daily intimate partners, and their state directly affects sleep quality and health. Proper maintenance can not only ensure hygiene, but also greatly extend its service life. Here are five simple and practical maintenance tips.

Periodic flips and U-turns
In order to avoid the depression caused by local long-term compression of the mattress, it is recommended to flip it every two to three months. If it is a double-sided mattress, it can be flipped on the front and back; if it is a single-sided mattress, it can be turned head and tail. This will allow the internal spring and filling to be evenly stressed and delay collapse.
Keep it clean and vacuum
Regularly using a vacuum cleaner to clean the surface of the mattress can effectively remove allergens such as dust, dander and mites. When dealing with liquid stains, you should first dry them with a clean cloth, and then gently wipe them with a small amount of neutral detergent to avoid the use of strong chemical reagents. Be sure to let them air dry completely and naturally to prevent internal mildew.
Use a mattress protector
Adding a mattress protection pad between the mattress and the bed sheet is the most cost-effective maintenance method. It effectively prevents liquids, stains and body secretions from seeping into the inside of the mattress, is easy to remove and wash, and provides a crucial first line of defense for the mattress.
Avoid local stress
Avoid sitting on the edge of the mattress for long periods of time or allowing children to jump on the mattress. These behaviors can put excessive pressure on local springs and materials, resulting in permanent damage and elastic failure.
Make sure it's well ventilated
Regularly lift the sheets and let the mattress ventilate naturally to help disperse moisture accumulated during sleep and keep the interior dry. If conditions permit, you can occasionally dry it in a ventilated place (avoid direct sunlight), but be careful not to let it dry for too long.
By following these simple daily habits, your mattress can maintain better support and hygiene, and accompany you to spend more comfortable nights.
